TheoryWorks II focuses on singing in tight harmonies and creating your own audition cuts in this 6 week class. In the final class, actors learn all 3 vocal lines from a cut of "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" and sing for Broadway MD Andrea Grody (TOOTISE) in mixed groups.

If you sing, chances are good that you have what I call a "sticky ear."
There's a good chance you already absorb melodies almost instantly, which is great -- unless you accidentally absorb it wrong. Then the effort of fixing those mistakes and holding a tricky harmony can be much more difficult.
Join us for a 6-week "blended" (both online and in-person) session on harmony, key signatures, scales, ear training, and form. In a flipped classroom model, students first learn the material for "homework" from their computer in our online course, and then meet weekly with a TheoryWorks coach one-on-one to review that week's material and assignment over Zoom.
By the end of class, students will learn how harmony is organized, have mastered a packet of ear training exercises to revisit as needed, understand how to build their own audition cuts, and be fully armed with the tips and tricks they need to feel confident in a music rehearsal.
In the final class, each actor will be asked to learn all 3 harmony lines from "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" in small groups to test blend and harmony abilities for Broadway music director Andrea Grody (TOOTSIE, THE BAND'S VISIT).
Schedule:
** Saturday, October 1st: Students are sent logins for the online course and asked to review the first module before the first class on 10/7.
** Friday, October 7th - November 4th: Weekly class from 5:30 - 7:30pm at Spectra Music Studios
** Friday, November 11th: In person Mock Callback with Andrea Grody frpm 7:30 - 9:30pm at Spectra Music Studios
